This blog features discussions and perspectives towards this objective as contained in a publication on Toolkit for Genrer Equality Results and Indicators.Who Is the Tool Kit For?&nbsp;This tool kit aims to assist development practitioners to ensure that gender perspectives are incorporated into development initiatives, and to monitor and evaluate gender equality results. It presents a menu of gender equality outcomes, results, and indicators that may be selected or adapted by users.While the tool kit focuses primarily on the sectors and strategic priorities of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Australia’s aid program, it is designed for a wider audience of development policy makers, planners, implementers, and evaluators. The tool kit will assist specialists in particular sectors to identify gender equality results and indicators; it may also be used by gender specialists who work across a range of sectors.When Can the Tool Kit Be Used?The tool kit is intended to be read selectively according to the sector and type of development initiative. It is not expected that every result or indicator will be relevant for all policies, strategies, programs, or projects; the selection of results and indicators will be determined by the level of the intervention, its scale, and the development cooperation modality. The tool kit may be used at any point in the policy, strategy, program, or project cycle. However, it is preferable for gender equality and women’s empowerment indicators to be identified during planning and design.To ensure progress is made on gender equality, results and indicators need to be incorporated when(i) developing country and regional strategies and performance frameworks;(ii) designing programs, projects, or other initiatives and their monitoring and evaluation&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;frameworks; and(iii) implementing, monitoring, reviewing, and evaluating policies, programs, projects, and other development initiatives.<a href="https://www.3psmars.org/documents/tool-kit-on-gender-equality-results-and-indicators/" target="_blank">To know more, go to PUBLICATION</a>&nbsp;

For me, this is a sheer waste of human resources, in the move to restructure the country’s economy efforts should be made to re- direct this situation. Today, you see most graduate stranded after the National Youth Service Corps .Poverty reduction would be better tackled if Government can find a way to import the already large population of graduate into a scheme that can make use of their trained vocations. for example, we have a situation of a b.sc in engineering operating commercial motorbikes to make ends meet as this is the only option available for the fella, after depsperately searcjhig for job for months unend without results!This situation is not limited to Nigeria and Developing Countries Alone – According to a report published on BBC News on 19th August, 2015, findings by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) revealed that the majority of UK university graduates are working in jobs that do not require a degree, with over-qualification at “saturation point”, a report claims.Overall, 58.8% of graduates are in jobs deemed to be non-graduate roles, affirmed the CIPD.The report said the number of graduates had now “significantly outstripped” the creation of high-skilled jobs. The CIPD said the report’s findings should be a “a wake-up call”.“The assumption that we will transition to a more productive, higher-value, higher-skilled economy just by increasing the conveyor belt of graduates is proven to be flawed,” said Peter Cheese, chief executive of the CIPD, the professional body for human resources managers.‘Simply wasted’ – The report found the issue was leading to “negative consequences” including employers requesting degrees for traditionally non-graduate roles despite no change to the skills needed for the role. As a result, it found graduates were now replacing non-graduates in roles and taking jobs where the demand for graduate skills was either non-existent or falling.The trend was particularly prominent in construction and manufacturing sectors where apprenticeships have previously been traditional routes into the industry, the report found. Mr Cheese said that in many cases the “skills premium” graduates had “if it exists at all” was being “simply wasted”.The CIPD is calling for a “national debate” over how to generate more high-skilled jobs – It said government and organisations both needed to act to help graduates make better use of their skills, but said the report also highlighted that for young people choosing an apprenticeship instead of university could be a “much better choice”.A Department for Business, Innovation and Skills spokesman said: “We are providing the right mix of university places and apprenticeships to ensure more people have the opportunity to advance their careers and businesses to get the skills they need to grow.”Entrepreneurial Skills Development as a Remedy – Personally, I believe in the powers of entrepreneurship as a viable remedy for this deficient in Nigeria. Achieving results would require rewriting the story of desperation for paid jobs, government should intensify efforts in collaboration with universities and other education institutions to include building entrepreneur skills at the early stage of higher education – As, by so doing, students will not only be trained to create graduate roles for themselves that contribute to overall economic growth, but also will be capable of creating many more graduate jobs.

In all ramifications, the Nigerian development situation mirrors the African development predicament. In March, 2014, while the media announced that Nigerias GDP has surpassed that of South Africa after a statistical rebasing exercise, they did not fail to warn that more than 80% of Nigerian citizens still live on less that 2 dollar a day. The most populous nation with its 180 million citizens and also the number one petroleum exporting country in Africa, the country should have been farther away in terms of prosperity for its citizens, but the reverse is the case as at present.This is true, to varying degrees, of many African countries where growth does not translate to physical, structural or economic development or prosperity. Apart from corruption and other issues bordering on lack of transparency, clientelism, etc, we at 3psmars believe that a lack of focus on results by development managers are part of the reason why underdevelopment still persists. Besides these, a culture or results encourages transparency and may represent an answer to some of the inherent challenges.There are reasons to affirm that the Federal Government, especially through the National Planning Commissions has been spearheading a lot of reforms initiatives, the results of these initiatives are yet to manifest. We therefore believe these efforts must be supported by non-governmental structures and some campaign platform that will consolidate on the efforts.Furthermore, it is evident that states and local governments alike have not been on the same rhythm with the federal structure. A lot of 3psmars efforts will therefore go to states and local government while still lending assistance to federal structures.The Nigeria campaign will initially focus on initiating government agencies in the three tiers of government as well as development managers to use 3psmars online platform as a multisectoral knowledge management window for harmonious policy and research documentation, information and media meeting-point on good practice and innovation in the public sector management, MfDR as well as research-practice initiatives. National leaders, civil servants, development experts, consultants, academics and students can interact and exchange knowledge on subject specifics, and will have opportunities of uploading policy papers, presentations, speeches and other materials for free mutual consultation.Furthermore, as a means of grooming a young generation of policy makers and experts, 3psmars will create a postgraduate/doctoral forum, where students can interact and exchange knowledge on their research work and begin to learn to incorporate the results principles to research and future career perspectives.As such, 3psmars hopes to continually host a collective and constantly-growing document of the past, current and future of the public service, innovations and results success stories to promote research on its subject and thereby fostering innovation for a future of development results evident in assessable impact on the ordinary citizen and facility of daily lives.
